Malaika Arora says she was “horrified” when people thought she had accepted “fat alimony” from Arbaaz Khan after their divorce
Malaika Arora is one of the biggest names in the entertainment world today. She is known for her stunning dance moves and impeccable style. But their relationships also often make headlines. She recently recalled her divorce from Arbaaz Khan and shared that she was ridiculed and questioned over her decision to end her marriage.
Malaika told Pinkvilla, “When I decided to divorce, I don't think there were too many women in the industry who got divorced and moved on. I felt that in order to make my child happy and ensure that he thrives in his environment, I needed to feel good within myself about my personal growth and choice. “So that’s what I did,” she said. Malaika said that everyone looks at divorce as a slight, but for her, she needed to “feel settled and happy to make everyone around me happy.” It starts with me.” She recalled being “mocked and questioned.”
“Someone decided to publish a ridiculous article about something I was wearing and said how expensive it was, and they said, 'She can obviously afford it because she was paid a lot,' and I was horrified. Whatever you have done in life, no matter at what level, it makes no difference,” she recalls.
Talking about her decision to get married, Malaika said, “Not that I grew up in an environment where I was told, 'Oh, you have to get married at this age.' I was told to live my life, go out , have fun, meet more people and have more relationships, that's all what I was told. However, I don't know what came to mind. When I was 22 or 23, I said I wanted to get married. Nobody forced me to do this, but it was what I had to do now because it was the best option I had at that moment.
