In an interview with Pinkvilla, Malaika shared the reason why she got married at 25. She said: “Not that I grew up in an environment where I was told, 'Oh, you have to get married at this age.' I was told to live.” My life, going out, having fun, meeting more people and having more relationships, I was told all that. But I don't know what came to mind, when I was 22-23 I said I wanted to get married. Nobody forced me, but it was what I had to do now because it was the best option I had at that moment.

In the divorce

She said: “When I decided to get divorced, I don’t think there were too many women in the industry who had divorced and moved on. I felt that for my personal growth, for my decision, I had to feel okay inside.” “If I had to make my child happy and ensure that he thrives in his environment. So that’s what I did,” she said. Malaika said that everyone looks down on divorce but for her, she needs to “feel settled and happy to make everyone around me happy. It starts with me.”

The 50-year-old recounted an incident where the cost of her outfit was discussed in a publication and was very angry about it. “Someone decided to publish a ridiculous article about something I was wearing and said how expensive it was and they said, 'She can obviously afford it because she's been paid a fat living allowance,' and I was horrified. Whatever you have done in life, no matter at what level.” “It makes no difference,” said Malaika Arora.

Malaika Arora married Arbaaz Khan in 1997 – the two separated in 2017.

Currently, Malaika Arora and Arjun Kapoor have been together for over 5 years. They reportedly started dating back in 2018 but made it Instagram official on Arjun's birthday in 2019.
