“Bachelorette” Rachel Lindsay is covering 90% of the bills for an estranged husband who is seeking post-divorce support while living in his marital home
Reality star and podcast host Rachel Lindsay is finding that cutting ties with her estranged husband Bryan Abasolo comes at a high cost.
The former lovebirds are in the middle of a divorce, which began earlier this year when “Dr. Abs” filed for a formal separation after four years of marriage on New Year’s Day.
The two exes met during Lindsay's season on The Bachelorette in 2017 and got engaged. They initially lived in separate cities, with her in Dallas, Texas, and Bryan in Miami, where his chiropractor business was operated. They tied the knot in 2019 and the following year he moved to California to be with his wife, where she launched her career as a media personality and correspondent for “Extra.”

The former couple is now embroiled in divorce proceedings and are still confined together in their marital home in Los Angeles due to Abasolo's limited resources.
Court documents indicate he wants to maintain his standard of living, which would require his soon-to-be ex-wife to pay spousal support. In an emergency application for financial assistance, the doctor said he needed at least $75,000 to cover his legal fees.
He wrote: “I am informed and believe that Rachel used our community property funds to pay her divorce attorney and forensic accountant, while at the same time refusing to give me access to our community property funds to pay my divorce attorney, my forensic accountant, or any of them of my personal expenses.”
According to The US Sun, the space they occupy is a $2.1 million home that was purchased in March 2022. The residence features 2,100 square feet, a gym, pool and other desirable amenities. The comfortable life that Abasolo experienced also came at the expense of Lindsay.
His filing claims that his work at the Beverly Hills Disc & Laser Therapy Center pays him $1,700 a month, leaving his ex to cover living expenses. His assets include $781,000 worth of real estate, his $1,000 wedding ring, and $51,000 accumulated in several investment accounts.
“None of us want to continue living together,” he said. “Our current living situation is very difficult and tense. We usually don't even talk to each other and try to avoid each other.” Furthermore, the doctor alluded to the fact that Lindsay monitors him via the security system that only she has access to.
“I would like to move out of our family home as soon as possible, but maintaining our standard of living is currently not financially feasible,” he added. “I put my career as a chiropractor on hold to switch twice for Rachel's career. These moves adversely affected my chiropractic business while Rachel’s income and success as a media personality skyrocketed.”
In her filed response, the “Miss Me With That” author said she is trying to “resolve this matter quietly, without judicial intervention, through a global settlement that is imminent” and that “Bryan continues to reside there in the meantime.” Rachel's home, for which Rachel pays 90% of all costs.” Concerned for her safety, she asks a judge to seal her income information.
Abasolo announced the divorce on Instagram on January 2nd. His post reads in part: “After more than four years of marriage, Rachel and I have made the difficult decision to separate and start over. My parents have been married forever and I’m a family man, but sometimes loving yourself and your partner means you have to let go.”
He hoped the public statement would stop blogs from making up “their own reality” about what went wrong in the marriage. Comments on this post and all others shared have been disabled, except for one on January 22 about his foray into the LA Fitness Expo.

Lindsay briefly acknowledged the breakup on an episode of her co-host Van Lathan's “Higher Learning” podcast, where she said she was taking things “day by day.”
The former lawyer faced backlash when she, the first black bachelorette, fell in love with a non-black suitor in front of millions of viewers.
Before the season 13 premiere, Rachel made it clear that the process of finding her forever love was her journey and not to appease those who hoped she would choose a black man.
