DuBois man allegedly threatened to kill and burn down another man after custody hearing in Jefferson County

BROOKVILLE BOROUGH, Pennsylvania (EYT) – A DuBois man is accused of threatening to kill a man and burn down his house after a custody hearing for his children in Brookville.

Court records show that the Brookville County Police Department filed the following criminal charges against the 27-year-old Dorian Tyral Murrayof DuBois, in District Judge Gregory Bazylak’s office on June 17:

  • Terrorist threats with the intent to terrorize another person, offense 1

According to a criminal complaint, Officer Mickey Stormer was dispatched by the Brookville Police Department at approximately 3:02 p.m. on June 10 to call a known male victim about a threat made against him. The victim stated that he had been threatened by a known male earlier that day at the Jefferson County Courthouse.

In an interview with police, the victim stated that he attended a child custody hearing and after the hearing was directly threatened by a man he described as Dorian Murray in the hallway and stairwell area outside the courtroom, the complaint states.

The victim said Murray is the father of a four-year-old child he has with the victim's current girlfriend, the complaint states.

According to the prosecution, Murray repeatedly said he would kill the victim and “put him six feet underground” to prevent him from getting near his daughter.

Police interviewed two women who witnessed the incident. The first witness gave the same information as the victim regarding the location and situation. She said she heard Murray repeatedly say he was going to put the victim six feet underground to keep him away from his daughter. She said she did not hear Murray say he was going to kill the victim, but she did hear him say he was going to put him six feet underground, the complaint states.

The other witness told police she heard Murray say he was going to burn the victim's house down and bury him six feet underground several times. She also reported that Murray's father told him to “shut up” as a result of those comments, the indictment says.

Investigators made numerous unsuccessful attempts to locate and interview Murray. A phone number they had received from Murray's probation officer was no longer valid. Officers also received another address where Murray could not be found, the complaint states.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, July 23, at 2:15 p.m., with Judge Bazylak presiding.
