SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Police said an incident Saturday in Mission Bay was related to a custody dispute and was not an attempted kidnapping.
San Diego police said they received a call shortly before 1:30 p.m. reporting a possible kidnapping in the 1700 block of East Mission Bay Drive.

When officers arrived, they arrested one person and “secured the scene.”
Street Gang Unit investigators later concluded that the incident was the result of an “ongoing custody dispute” and that the inmate was not involved, Lt. Daniel Meyer said in an emailed statement Wednesday.
“No firearm was found and there is no threat to public safety in connection with this incident,” police added.
