Ma Yashu denies that she is still receiving maintenance
15th of November – Chinese actress Ma Yashu recently denied rumors that her ex-husband Nicky Wu continues to pay her child support, even though she is now happily married to her Australian husband James Robert Hayes.
Previously, several tabloids had reported that Nicky, who had recently announced his relationship with his “Bu Bu Jing Qing” co-star Cecilia Liu, had continued to make monthly alimony payments to Ma, even four years after the divorce and Ma's second marriage.
It was also alleged that Nicky generously gifted her 100 million RMB (approximately $16.4 million) and six luxury properties as part of the negotiated terms of their divorce in 2009.
However, on November 14, the actress' representative denied all allegations in a press statement, saying: “During and after their official divorce, Ms. Ma did not accept any money from Mr. Wu. During their marriage, they had bought a house together and Ms. Ma has repaid the amount paid by Mr. Wu during the divorce proceedings.”
The spokesperson added that the fabricated news had tarnished Ma Yashu's reputation and that the actress reserves the right to take legal action.
