Prenuptial agreements are the most common in celebrity marriages. Stars often ask their spouses to sign prenuptial agreements before the wedding to protect their assets. These prenuptial agreements often contain clauses that accommodate the wishes of both parties. Sources suggest that La La Anthony signed a prenuptial agreement before her wedding to Carmelo Anthony in 2010, after they had been in a long-term relationship since 2003.

As one family law expert explained in the E-News Report: “If a prenuptial agreement exists, anything is possible, as it can affect the division of assets and possibly also maintenance.” He added: “Without a prenuptial agreement, every time he gets a paycheck for playing basketball, she gets 50 percent of it.”
The two were married for 11 years and even with a prenuptial agreement, the actress could have demanded a hefty amount of alimony from the basketball legend. She currently has a net worth of $30 million, much of which comes from La La's various business ventures. The series “La La's Full Court Life” featured La La's married life with the famous basketball player. She has starred in various hit series in recent years, including “Power” and “BMF.”

Let's go back to the prenuptial agreement: It could certainly have saved the New York Knicks legend millions. But there are chances that certain clauses in the agreement could allow his ex-wife to demand more than stated. One such aspect is infidelity. Carmelo Anthony is said to have cheated on his ex-wife during their marriage.
How much alimony did La La Anthony expect?
The couple initially separated in 2017. Although they reconciled in 2018 and then after the COVID-19 quarantine in 2020, La La Anthony filed for divorce a year later. Recently, Melo's daughter's seventh birthday was celebrated, which once again prompted fans to express their doubts and concerns on the matter. In an interview, the actress once recounted how her relationship with the Denver Nuggets star suffered after moving to New York.
Although neither has ever confirmed these rumors, La La Anthony has spoken openly about the difficulties she and her son, Kiyan, faced when rumors of Melo's infidelity began to swirl. If these rumors are true, La La could potentially have demanded a significant amount of child support. It is unclear if she has demanded child support, but it has been revealed how much she may be demanding.

“La La must easily raise $60,000 to $100,000 a month for child support. Then it would be [Carmelo] to say that is crazy and to claim that the reasonable needs of the child will be somewhere in the range of $15,000 to $30,000,” says the report.
The NBA legend earned nearly $262 million in his NBA career. In 2016, the year before everything went wrong, he was ranked 36th among the richest athletes. When asked how this would affect Melo's net worth of $160 million, the legal expert said: “Anything Carmelo gets under $15,000 would be a win for him, and anything over $25,000 would be a loss for him. I would say the range is $15,000 to $25,000, but a judge could just say, 'That's the amount, pay it.' Carmelo's lawyer is tasked with reducing that amount.”
Numerous athletes like Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and others had to shell out millions for their divorce settlements. This is everything we know about the Knicks legend.
