Suchana Seth, CEO of The Mindful AI Lab, has been accused of killing her son. She was arrested from Chitradurga in Karnataka on Monday evening while traveling from North Goa with her son's body in a bag. The court documents have emerged as part of the ongoing investigation by the Goa Police, who have taken Suchana Seth into custody for six days.

Bitter divorce battle

A preliminary investigation has revealed that Suchana Seth was involved in a bitter divorce dispute with her estranged spouse Venkata Raman PR and even filed domestic violence charges against him. Suchana Seth claimed the monthly maintenance allowance claiming that her estranged spouse has an annual income of over Rs 1 crore.

Suchana Seth also claimed that she had been living separately since March 2021, citing domestic violence, and provided the court with copies of WhatsApp messages, images and medical records to support her claim of domestic violence.

The couple married on November 18, 2010 in Kolkata and their son, now deceased, was born on August 14, 2019. Court documents accessed by India Today revealed that Suchana Seth had filed a domestic violence complaint against Venkata Raman PR in August 2022.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CASE

In this case, Suchana Seth accused her husband of physically abusing her and their son. Raman, who was abroad when the alleged murder was committed in Goa's official residence, has denied these allegations in court.

According to reports, this domestic violence case was filed during their divorce proceedings.

As part of the almost finalized divorce, the father was forbidden from meeting his son. Pursuant to a temporary restraining order issued on August 18, 2022, the husband was prohibited from entering Suchana Seth's home or contacting her son by telephone or any other means.

However, the father was reportedly given the right to visit his son weekly, which angered Suchana Seth.

She was reportedly unhappy with the court order that allowed her estranged husband to meet with their son every Sunday. Accordingly, Suchana Seth reportedly hatched the plot to end her son's life a day before the scheduled meeting.

Sources told India Today that Suchana Seth allegedly killed the four-year-old to stop Raman from meeting her son as part of visitation rights. He spoke to his son via video call from Indonesia on January 7, a day before Seth left Goa. Police sources also said Suchana Seth texted Raman on the night of January 6 and told him that he could meet her son.

The divorce proceedings for Suchana Seth and her husband Venkat Raman are underway.
