Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose finalize divorce after bitter separation – she gets no alimony

Three months after filing for divorce, Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose have settled their divorce.

According to DailyMail.com, Firerose will not receive any child support, but Billy has agreed to act as a songwriter and receive royalties for the songs they worked on together during their relationship.

In a statement, Billy Ray's lawyers told Us Weekly: “Last Friday, the parties agreed to dissolve their seven-month marriage at mediation, and the court declared the parties divorced this morning. Mr. Cyrus is relieved to put this nightmare behind him.”

“In addition, a few weeks ago, prior to mediation, Ms. Hodges officially changed her last name from 'Hodges' to 'Cyrus,'” they added. “Mr. Cyrus believes this supports his claim that the only reason his ex-wife married him was to preserve his last name.”

Billy Ray filed for annulment after seven months of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct.”

A source close to Cyrus told People magazine that Cyrus ended the marriage because Firerose “was not the person he thought he wanted to marry.”

They added: “He believes she married for reasons other than love. He believes she married him so he could provide for her financially. They have had drama and trust issues over money.”

They got married in October.

He wrote on Instagram: “October 23rd will always be the beautiful, joyous day our two souls were united in holy matrimony. It was the most perfect, heavenly celebration of love we could have ever imagined.”

In addition to posting a series of wedding photos, Cyrus added: “For both of us, it was the sacred moment when we heard the priest say, 'Billy Ray and Firerose Cyrus… I hereby pronounce you husband and wife' and that was the sacred moment when our new eternity began. Long live love! ❤️♾️”

In 2022, the two sparked engagement rumors.

It's not clear when Billy Ray and Firerose's romance began, but they collaborated on a song called “New Day” in 2021.
