Speculation is circulating among Miranda Lambert’s fans about the hidden meaning of the lyrics of her latest breakup song, “Alimony,” which some believe is directed at her husband Brendan McLoughlin.
This rumor emerged after the song's release, which coincided with reports of McLoughlin's questionable behavior toward other women in recent weeks.
This week, a video of Lambert promoting her latest song was shared on Instagram. The clip shows the country singer in action during various live performances and offers fans a glimpse of her impressive stage presence.
The new song on Lambert's upcoming album “Postcards from Texas” deals with the story of a woman who demands alimony from her ex-husband after deciding to end the marriage.
“Once you get caught, you gotta know that they’ll all be as good as mine,” the lyrics go.
“And you’re gonna love how it all works out / ’Cause for me it all works out / What’s mine is mine and what’s yours is mine,” Lambert sings on the track.
The song ended with the words: “If you're going to act so stupid, darling, I hope you're thinking about child support.”
In the comments section of the video, fans shared their thoughts on the lyrics, with some interpreting them as a direct “message” to McLoughlin after he was caught on video allegedly getting physical with other women.
One commenter said: “I feel like this is a message to Brendan.”
Another person joked: “It is questionable whether he would pay her child support.”
“This song is awesome. 10/10.” [It] is undoubtedly one of her best songs already,” wrote one fan about the song.
Last month, McLoughlin was seen dancing and getting cozy with several women at Casa Rosa, his wife's Nashville, Tennessee eatery. Video of the interactions was briefly shared on TikTok before it was removed.
In the clips, a woman hugged McLoughlin and gently touched his face.
An unnamed eyewitness told The Sun that McLoughlin allegedly continued this behavior over a “prolonged period of time.”
After the video surfaced in the media and went viral, one of the women who danced with Lambert's husband decided to tell her side of the story.
The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, told In Touch: “We recognized him and all thought it was cool that he was there and mentioned that we were hoping for a performance by Miranda.”
“Somehow we were later let into the cordoned off area where he was. I'm not sure how that was initiated or happened,” she claimed.
The mystery woman also revealed that McLoughlin was “friendly and easy-going, but never in any way inappropriate or suggestive.”
