Douglas man in court for custody hearing: Learns there is a warrant out for his arrest and flees – Douglas Now
A man in court Thursday for a child custody hearing fled the courthouse after learning he had a misdemeanor warrant out for his arrest. The man, identified as Brandon Anthony Morgan, was arrested a short distance away without incident, according to a news release from the Coffee County Sheriff's Office.
Shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday, units from multiple agencies arrived at the courthouse after Morgan fled. Morgan ran east from the courthouse and entered the building at the southwest corner of Pearl Avenue and Ward Street. Officers arrested Morgan without incident and no one was injured.
Morgan was taken to the Coffee County Jail and arrested on a warrant and for obstruction of justice.
According to the sheriff's office, Morgan was not an inmate when he escaped from the courthouse.
