Elon Musk has requested a safe location for his videotaped statement as part of his custody battle with the artist Grimes.
What happened: Given the public interest in both Musk and Grimes, there are heightened concerns about the privacy of the details that may emerge.
According to a report by Business Insider, the move was taken to prevent unauthorized information leaks.
Motions were filed in the Texas case earlier this week showing that the former couple’s attorneys are working to establish a schedule for Musk’s videotaped testimony.

The filing noted that Grimes’ legal team suggested the deposition be held in his office. However, Musk’s lawyers rejected this and instead suggested a “secure location in Austin, Texas” that would be shared privately with Grimes’ legal representatives, the report said.
Experts told Business Insider that Musk’s request for safe storage is not uncommon. Peter Waltz And Christopher Melcherpartner at Waltz Melchersuggested that Musk likely has security concerns about conducting the deposition in a law firm, where anyone knowledgeable could be present.
The legal battle over custody of Musk and Grimes’ children has attracted widespread attention. The couple parted ways in 2021.
