Bantwal, December 10: The family court in Mangaluru has canceled the maintenance of a woman who entered into a second marriage without the knowledge of her first husband while her divorce proceedings were pending.

In 2018, Udaya Nayak, a resident of Panakaje Mandadi, married Anita Nayak of Maryhill. However, due to differences, the couple initiated divorce proceedings. Amid this court case, Udaya Nayak took the initiative and filed a private complaint in the CJ and JMFC court in Beltangady alleging that Anita had secretly married for a second time.

During these legal developments, Anita Nayak, who was still married to Udaya, filed a case in court seeking maintenance from her husband. Following a court order, Udaya complied with it and provided a draft demand of Rs 15,000.

In a remarkable turn of events, Udaya Nayak, donning the hat of a detective, uncovers evidence of his wife's second marriage. He came across a public notice in the Maharashtra Gazette revealing Anita's marriage to Harikrishna Ganapat Rao Keelu on March 13, 2023 in Dombivili, Mumbai.

Udaya Nayak submitted the Maharashtra Gazette along with photographs of his wife and her second husband to the family court in Mangaluru. The chief justice, after examining the evidence, took note of the documents and subsequently ordered cancellation of maintenance payments to Anita Nayak.
