After a larger investment by Haringey and Enfield Councils, new custody facilities were presented at the Wood Green Police Station in London.
These newly renovated cells offer a more comfortable and more supportive environment, with softer colors and works of art to create a calming atmosphere for often endangered young criminals. The improvements are part of the children's strategy of the Metropolitan Police, which prioritizes access to essential support services for children who are involved in criminal behavior.
It also focuses on the fact that MET officials and employees are well equipped to protect these people in need of protection. Investing in these facilities is a step forward to create a supportive environment and the necessary services to help these people turn their lives around.
City Councilor Zena Brabazon, cabinet member for children, schools and families and CLLR. Ajda Ovat, a member of the cabinet for communities, in the Haringey Council, said: “For your rehabilitation and growth, it is important to create the right environment for our children.
“Many children who are detained are vulnerable and require sensible support and access to the most important services for the earliest opportunity to really understand the effects of their actions. This project will play a crucial role for these children to think about their past, learn valuable lessons and to play a better, more hopeful future.
Inspector Matthew Fox added to public protection: “These new renovation work must need exactly that to ensure that the young criminals we see are kept with care and attention they deserve. We always want to introduce a more sensitive, more trusting and compassionate emotion, and it begins with the fact that the children or young criminals feel safe in our care. “
