KPD: Killeen lady beats mom in custody swap | Break

A woman is said to have assaulted a mother during a custody swap in Killeen on Saturday.

Stephanie Perez, 28, of Killeen, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, according to a Herald Tuesday affidavit.

At 7:54 p.m. Saturday, a woman was reportedly meeting with the father of her 6-year-old son in the Party City parking lot to swap custody of the child, according to an affidavit, when Perez punched the woman.

“While the victim was giving (the father) diapers and milk, he wanted to talk to the victim about something someone had told him,” the affidavit reads. “The victim told him she didn’t want to talk about it and went back to her car. The suspect, Stephanie Perez, who was with (the father), followed the victim and asked the victim to speak. The victim refused and the suspect pulled out a 9MM handgun and threatened the victim.”

According to the affidavit, Perez hit the woman on the back of the head “more than once” before driving off with the father in the vehicle.

The injured woman filed a complaint with the police on Saturday evening.

Killeen Police said the woman was seen bleeding from “multiple abrasions resulting from being hit in the back of the head with a blunt object” on Saturday.

According to the affidavit, Killeen police on Saturday stopped a vehicle matching the suspect’s description, in which a tan Glock 9mm handgun was found in the glove compartment during a “probable cause search” of the car.

Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson indicted Perez on Monday and set her bail at $100,000. Perez was booked into the Bell County Jail Monday night.
