Supreme Court Justice Justice Priscilla Munangati-Manongwa has ordered William Mutumanje, popularly known as Acie Lumumba, to return his minor child to his estranged wife Lilian Rufaro Madyara after he abducted him from school while in the care of his aunt.
Mutumanje was ordered to return the child to the mother within two hours of the order being issued.
Judge Munangati-Manongwa also barred Mutumanje from removing the child from the school he is enrolled in or from his mother’s care.
Mutumanje took the child from the school on May 23, 2021, without the consent of his wife’s sister, Angeline Chido Madyara, who had been left with the child when his mother left for China.
In an urgent filing through her lawyer, Choice Damiso, who was taking instructions from Women in Law in Southern Africa, Madyara accused Mutumanje of molesting his former wife with the help of the police.
She named Mutumanje, Interior Minister Kazembe Kazembe and the Zimbabwean Anti-Corruption Commission as respondents.

Madyara said on May 2, 2023 Mtumanje received an order from the courts that gave him access to the minor on alternate weekends and two weeks of each school holiday.
However, his ex-wife has appealed the verdict to the Supreme Court and the case is still pending.
“Notwithstanding the fact that the district court’s judgment was stayed upon the filing of the appeal, the first defendant has attempted to enforce it with the assistance of the second (Police Commissioner Godwin Matanga to the fifth defendant (Highlands Police Station)). ‘ said Madyara.
“He and those interviewed engaged in behavior that harassed Ms. Madyara and her relatives, as more fully set out in the affidavits available.”
She said she had made a complaint to Avondale Police on 23 and 24 May, but the station officer in charge (sixth interviewee) reportedly refused to take the complaint.
