Mary J. Blige contemplates paying her ex-husband $30,000 a month in child support

Mary J. Blige is strongly opposed to women having to pay child support to their ex-husbands.

The multi-talented mogul shared her perspective during a discussion with moderators Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings on May 13 Earn your free time podcast. The Real love The filmmaker previously revealed that she was touring to help pay her ex-husband, Kendu Issacs, $30,000 a month in child support payments. During the live podcast event, she stressed how she hated paying Issacs the hefty monthly payments.

“Right now it’s so crazy that men can attack you and demand alimony. When I got divorced, I thought: “You want to tell me that I have to pay him?!” And he cheated and lied. Make a prenuptial agreement,” she bluntly advised. “Because I didn’t have any, so in the end I just had to give everything away.”

The interview took place on the third day of Blige Strength Of A Woman Festival & Summit in Atlanta.

The mogul has kept it open about her failure to secure financially and educate herself, which ultimately left her vulnerable.

“I would never allow anyone to have that much power over my money, my life, [or] ever again,” said the “Just Fine” singer, while a crowded room full of multi-generational women applauded. “Now I am in control of my business. I am in control of my life and it is imperative that I learn about the business of finance so that I never have to be robbed by someone like you ever again think you can trust.”
