A Jos Upper Area Court 3 in Kasuwan Nama, Plateau State, has dissolved a six-year marriage between Pateince Sunday and her husband Danjuma Musa on charges of abuse.
According to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN), when delivering the sentence, Judge Suleiman Lawal ruled that the petitioner was granted a divorce because the ill-treatment and assault continued despite best efforts to reconcile the parties.
Lawal ordered the petitioner and the defendant to go their separate ways.
Before the divorce was granted, the petitioner informed the court that the defendant had become violent and had assaulted her four years after their marriage.
“My husband abandoned my children and refused to take care of us. He’s also accusing me of having extramarital affairs,” she said.
