OPELOUSAS, La. – Opelousas Police are currently at the scene of a shooting that occurred at the 400 block of West Bellevue Street.
The background to the shooting was a custody battle. Two adult male victims were shot and killed, according to Major Mark Guidry, the commander of Special Operations Forces.
Ambulances were on site. Both victims were taken to a local hospital with life-threatening to serious injuries, Guidry says.
The investigation is ongoing and several witnesses are currently being questioned. More details will be released as they become available.
