Police are searching southeast Houston for a suspect accused of shooting a woman during a custody dispute

HOUSTON — Houston Police Department officers are searching for a suspect accused of shooting a woman in southeast Houston.

Chasity Nicole Bougere, 24, is charged in the 183rd State District Court with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The identity of the 24-year-old victim has not been released at this time.

On Oct. 8, HPD patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex at 9800 Hollock St. around 10:55 p.m

When officers arrived at the scene, they learned of a physical altercation related to a custody matter. The woman was shot in the arm by Bougere and left the scene, investigators said.

A short time later, police learned that the woman had been taken to an area hospital in a private vehicle.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and Bougere was subsequently charged for her alleged role in the incident. She is not in custody.
