Pooja Bedi has defended her ex-husband after her old comments about breaking out of their marriage recently resurfaced. The actor was married to Farhan Furniturewala and divorced in 2003.

Pooja Bedi She recently took to social media to respond to one of her old interviews, in which she spoke of stepping out of her marriage with no alimony. Her comments had made headlines, but Pooja said in her new post they were taken out of context. She lobbied for her ex-husband Farhan Furniturewala, saying he contributed to their children’s personal and school expenses.
Pooja, a former actress and daughter of a veteran actor Kabir Bedi and Protima Bedi tweeted: “Headlines can be so misleading!” They can cause chaos, as in this situation, when there is no need. Always look beyond the headlines to see the bigger picture. It takes positive eyes to see a situation in a positive light. “Do you have this ability?” and included an explanation.
In her statement, she said, “An interview I recorded with Doordarshan in 2015 has resurfaced, with headlines on some over-the-top websites portraying my ex-husband as someone bad.” It was my story of struggles, choices and personal triumphs and had no intention of disparaging the father of my children. He has never neglected her emotionally and has been a great contributor to her personal and educational expenses.”

Pooja’s statement continued, “Farhan and I have both continued to grow personally and professionally, and warmth, respect and affection continue to be a key part of our wonderful dynamic to this day.” What would and should make better headlines is the manner how we all date together as a family and how our current partners are so graceful and respectful of the situation and friendship. Let us promote the positive and the worthy of imitation if we want to create a healthy society and set a good example.”
Pooja, mother of two children including actress Alaya F, had spoken in her Doordarshan interview about how her life changed after the breakup. They married in 1994 and divorced in 2003. She said that even if it means an uncertain future and the possibility of a failed career, getting out of marriage is the only option for her.
