BARCELONA, Nov 8 (Reuters) – Colombian pop star Shakira has reached an agreement over custody of their two children with former partner Gerard Pique after their 11-year relationship broke up earlier this year, Shakira’s representative in Spain said on Tuesday.
The details of the agreement would be announced later on Tuesday, the representative said.
According to local newspaper La Vanguardia, the agreement will see their sons Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7, moving to Miami with their mother.
Shakira Mebarak, 45, and FC Barcelona defender Pique, 35, have been together since 2011 but have never been married. They met just before the 2010 World Cup in South Africa when he appeared in the music video for Shakira’s “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)”, the tournament’s official song.
They announced the end of their relationship in a statement in June.
The custody agreement was reached a week after Pique announced his forthcoming retirement from professional football and his departure from FC Barcelona.
The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer is facing trial in Spain over alleged tax fraud charges after losing an appeal on May 26. Prosecutors allege she failed to pay up to €14.5 million ($14.48 million) in taxes on income earned between 2012 and 2014.
