(WOODLAND PARK, Colo.) – Woodland Park Police have released more information about the fatal shooting that occurred on Friday, November 29th.
On Friday around 5:30 p.m., Woodland Park police responded to a shooting in the parking lot of the City Market grocery store after receiving a 911 call. According to the responsible authority, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), a physical altercation occurred during a custody exchange.
The child's biological father, 28-year-old Luis Morales, threatened the child's mother's boyfriend, a 29-year-old man, according to witnesses. The CBI says the friend pulled out a gun and fired a single shot, striking Morales.

Life-saving measures were performed on Morales, but he succumbed to his injuries and died at a Colorado Springs hospital.
The 29-year-old remained on site and is cooperating with investigators, according to the CBI. He was released pending the outcome of the investigation.
The CBI is leading the case with assistance from the Woodland Park Police Department and the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
