GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Alachua County Sheriff's officials arrest a man who fired a gun during a fight at a Gainesville apartment complex.
22-year-old Darien Daniels is accused of two counts of serious bodily harm against various persons.
According to sheriff's deputies, Gainesville police responded to a fight at the Horizon Sunset Apartments.
Police say two men were arguing with Daniels when a gun was fired.
One of the men claimed he was at the apartment complex to transfer custody of his child. As he went into an apartment to make the transfer, Daniels started an argument and approached him with a firearm. The man said he then ran to his brother.
The brother said he then struggled with Daniels, and during the struggle a shot was fired. No one was shot in the incident.
As the men struggled, the gun was thrown across the tracks, according to a witness. A downstairs neighbor said he found the gun in the yard and took it to his apartment until police arrived.
Daniels claims the argument started when the man wouldn't let him close the apartment door. He admits the gun was fired, but says it wasn't fired at anyone.
Daniels was arrested early Sunday morning and is being held in the Alachua County Jail.
