In a new interview, Sophie Turner spoke for the first time about her divorce from Joe Jonas and joint custody of their two daughters, four-year-old Willa and two-year-old Delphine.
Speaking to Harper's Bazaar UK, the British actress clarified that she couldn't be completely open due to the ongoing divorce proceedings. “I can't really say much, but it was incredibly sad,” she told the magazine in an interview published on October 30. “We had a beautiful relationship, and it was hard.”
While her children are in the US with Jonas, Turner is staying with a friend instead of her home in west London and says she finds the empty space “absolute torture”.
Jonas filed for divorce in September 2023 after rumors of their split began circulating, requesting joint custody but pointing out that their children were with him in the US while on tour with the Jonas Brothers. Weeks later, Turner filed a lawsuit against him to have the girls brought to Britain. A few days later, they agreed to a custody agreement.

How Sophie carried on
While the divorce is still ongoing, Turner appears to have moved on. She told the magazine she was “so happy” to be living in the UK again, adding: “[I] I never really feel like myself when I’m not in London.”
She is currently dating British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson, about which she said: “We are very happy.” She explained it by saying: “He's lovely. He's funny and he brings out the cheeky side of me, the funny side. He makes me shine again.
Professionally, she channeled the emotions of the divorce into the upcoming thriller “Trust,” in which she plays a famous actor trying to escape an internet scandal. “It really reflected my life over the past year and it was a very liberating experience for me,” she told Harper's Bazaar UK. “It was an opportunity to vent some serious anger, which was fun. That felt right to me.”
Turner's children kept her going, she says. “Before I had children I was very depressed and anxious and isolated [myself] a lot,” she said. “Now I think I live my life for her. I want them to see that I have a social life, enjoy my work, and succeed in my career and relationships. I want them to see a hard working mother. I come back and say, 'That's why mom was away – because she's doing this for you so Santa can come with a big bundle of presents.'”
