Suchana Seth, Accused of Killing Son, Alleges Domestic Violence by Husband; wanted 2.5 lakh maintenance | Indiablooms
New Delhi/IBNS: Suchana Seth, the Bengaluru woman accused of murdering her four-year-old son in Goa during a bitter divorce dispute with her husband PR Venkat Raman, had filed and received a domestic violence charge in August interim disposal .
She had accused her husband of physically abusing the child and herself and demanded Rs 2.5 lakh per month maintenance, claiming he had an annual income of over Rs 1 crore, reports said.
Seth, 39, the founder of artificial intelligence startup Mindful AI Labs, had reportedly submitted copies of WhatsApp messages and images as well as medical records to support her claim of domestic abuse.
Raman, who was in Indonesia at the time of the alleged murder, had denied allegations of domestic violence.
However, under the terms of the restraining order, he was prohibited from entering his wife's home or communicating with her or the child by telephone or social media.
However, the father was also reportedly granted weekly visitation rights – every Sunday – which upset Seth, 39. Police have speculated that this court order may have been the reason she killed her child.
Police arrested Seth from Chitradurga district in Karnataka, nearly 400 km from the hotel in Goa where the crime was allegedly committed. The body of her four-year-old was in one of her luggage.
The doctor who conducted the post-mortem on the four-year-old child said that a towel or a pillow was used to strangle the minor.
She told police she had no idea how the child died, saying she found him dead after a nap.
The Goa police, who have been in Seth's custody for six days, are so far unconvinced by her explanations as there was a blood-stained towel (which she claimed was menstrual bleeding) and empty bottles of cough syrup in her room.
The domestic violence case was last heard on December 12 – more than three weeks before Seth and her son moved into a service apartment in Candolim in north Goa.
The court had then adjourned the matter to January 29.
The couple married in November 2010 and their son was born in August 2019.
Seth reportedly told the court that she had been living separately from her husband since March 2021.
