Suspect arrested in domestic hotel shooting linked to custody battle | North Texas

WHITE SETTLEMENT, TX – According to the White Settlement Police Department, an 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with a shooting at a local hotel that was reportedly linked to an alleged child abduction case.

At 11:15 p.m. on July 28, 2023, police responded to a shooting at the Executive Inn, located at Block 8200 of Interstate Highway 30 Service Road. Officers discovered a Chrysler 300 passenger vehicle in the parking lot riddled with multiple bullet holes from a .223 assault rifle, causing vehicle fluids to spill into the parking lot.

The shooting was believed to stem from an earlier call at 11:06 p.m. from a woman reporting her children had been abducted by their birth father in Arlington. Surveillance footage from the hotel showed a gray four-door Kia Forte arriving at the scene, driven by a woman who was later identified as the mother of the alleged kidnapped children.

Her boyfriend, 18-year-old Lewis Calvin Parker III, was seen getting a rifle from the trunk of the car. According to video evidence and witness statements, Parker allegedly aimed the gun at a victim who had retreated to the hotel and then fired multiple shots at the victim’s car, causing significant property damage.

The Fort Worth Police Department assisted in the serving of two warrants against Parker for aggravated assault, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and deadly firearm. On August 14, 2023 at 9:32 p.m., Parker was taken into custody without incident at an apartment complex on Block 8600 of Las Vegas Court.

“Brazenly firing a gun at least a dozen times into a parked car with occupied hotel rooms directly behind it is totally unacceptable,” said Chief Constable Christopher Cook. “I would like to thank our investigative team, including Sgt. Steven Person and Detective Carly Page, for working this case to fully identify the shooter. I also want to publicly thank Fort Worth Police Chief Neil Noakes and the Direct Response Unit for their assistance in arresting the suspect.”

Buckeye, Arizona police also assisted the investigation by providing a photo of the suspect.
