Tristan and Maralee custody battle resolved
The former NBA champion agreed to pay Maralee $9,500 a month while she maintains custody of their son. Tristan will also reportedly pay some of Maralee’s legal fees.
According to TMZ, Tristan Thompson and Maralee Nichols have not yet finalized an official schedule of visits, but will be shortly. Tristan is also listed as the father on Theo’s birth certificate.
The paternity case has been in court since the birth of Tristan’s baby mom on December 3, 2021. The 38-year-old basketball player initially refused to acknowledge the baby until a paternity test was conducted.
The Texan native sued Tristan for child support, claiming he offered to pay her $75,000 to keep quiet about the baby. According to HollywoodLife, a spokesperson also claimed that Tristan didn’t pay Maralee child support. However, a lawyer for the professional athlete insisted that was not true.
“Tristan is paying and has paid Ms. Nichols child support backdated to the date she gave birth,” the attorney said.

Tristan was in a committed relationship with Khloe Kardashian when news of his date with the fitness model broke. He acknowledged the baby a month after his birth and took responsibility for his actions on social media.
“I take full responsibility for my actions. Now that paternity has been established, I look forward to amicably raising our son. I sincerely apologize to anyone I have hurt or disappointed during this ordeal, both publicly and privately,” he wrote at the time.
The NBA star also apologized to Khloe, admitting that she didn’t deserve the “heartbreak and humiliation” he caused her.
Tristan and Maralee’s son Theo is the basketball star’s third child. He has a six-year-old son Prince with ex Jordan Craig and a four-year-old daughter True with Khloe. Tristan and Khloe also share a second child, a son who was born through surrogacy in 2022. Their baby boy was conceived before news of Tristan’s paternity scandal broke.
Tristan admitting his mistakes is a step in the right direction. Tristan and Maralee’s custody case has dragged on for too long. Hopefully they can also clarify other aspects by mutual agreement.
