Wendy Williams' ex-husband is demanding two years' worth of back spousal support to cover his “living expenses.”
Kevin Hunter filed court documents demanding that the alimony awarded to him in the divorce settlement be reinstated, The Sun reported. According to Hunter, the payments ended shortly before Williams was placed under conservatorship in 2022, leaving him without income.
“My livelihood depends on the severance pay and the fact that I had to go without this income for 23 months hit me hard,” the lawsuit states.
Hunter also wants to sign documents for Williams' AFTRA retirement plan and has asked his ex-wife, through her conservatorship, to “promptly make any severance payments that may be due and owing at the time of this Court's order.”
The former talk show host's ex-husband was her manager and business partner during their marriage. But after cheating on the radio/TV host and fathering a child with another woman, Williams divorced Hunter and finalized the separation in 2020 before her current health and financial problems began.
As part of the settlement, Hunter received an undisclosed lump sum from Williams and a severance package from her company, Wendy, Inc. He was allowed to retain ownership of his companies and his cars, including a Ferrari and a Rolls-Royce.
However, if the deadline is shortened by two years, Hunter will demand access to all bank records from the “date of divorce to the present” because he has not received the spousal support awarded to him.
“I would not have to file this motion if Plaintiff had not stopped paying me severance payments and if Plaintiff had signed the Qualified Family Law Order for the AFTRA Retirement Plan,” the complaint states.
Insiders claim that mediators told Hunter that the former talk show host had no money to give, but he doesn't believe it until he sees the bank records himself.
In Lifetime's documentary series “Where Is Wendy Williams?”, which aired last month, Williams acknowledged her current financial problems.
“I don't have any money. And I'll tell you something: If it happens to me, it can happen to you too,” she said into the camera.
Following the release of the documentary, Williams' team confirmed that she was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia in 2023.
