Brody Dalle has opened up about her tumultuous custody battle with Josh Homme in a series of new Instagram posts.
The two split in 2019 after 14 years of marriage. In September 2021, Dalle filed a domestic violence restraining order against Homme on behalf of her two sons, claiming they were afraid he would hurt them.
The filing alleged that the Queens Of The Stone Age frontman had “physically and emotionally abused” her and was discovered driving under the influence.
Two months after filing the restraining orders, Dalle was found guilty of “willfully” failing to hand over her five-year-old son to Homme as part of an agreed custody agreement, and it was revealed that two of her older children had not voluntarily visited him. The Distillers singer was sentenced to community service and fined $1,000.

The two later went to court in early 2022, and Dalle testified against her ex-husband, claiming he “scared her,” said he “thinked about wanting to kill her,” and headbutted her so hard she “was seeing stars.”
However, in March 2022, a court awarded Homme sole custody of their three children for almost two years. Additionally, Homme shared a rare statement on the situation, in which he confirmed that Dalle was not permitted to contact the Homme family, including Josh, his parents and the former couple’s three children.
Now, Dalle has shared her side of the story on her Instagram, hinting that her claims were found false on grounds of “money,” “greed,” and “corruption.”
The singer shared two posts on the page, each with a photo of herself and her children, with a caption detailing her take on the custody battle.
“In February 2022, after an eight-day trial, I was granted a three-year domestic violence restraining order. “You didn’t hear about it because I didn’t go to the press, I didn’t carry it around and blow it on some triumphant horn,” she began.

“Three weeks later, they took one of my children away. A month later, under temporary camouflage, they took my other two away. A textbook for a T. They built an Everest of lies with no evidence…why?? … Why should they do this??? Because money, greed, corruption and winning at any price are the be-all and end-all.”
She also claimed that during the course of the court battle she was “focused on, punished, pointed at, lied to, laughed at, ridiculed, shamed, verbally abused and made an example of” and a victim of “smoke and mirrors” created by PRs.
“My story isn’t unique and it’s not uncommon, it happens to protective mothers (and some protective fathers) everywhere,” she added. “If you’ve never been accused of the exposed, insane and extremely dangerous quack of parental alienation and there was no evidence whatsoever because there was none… please shut up, you have no idea.”
In her other post, she argued that the “script” to removing her children from her starter was created “years ago” before she met partner Gunner Foxx and that that was “not at fault for any of it” — and that she “knew that Foxx had signed a restraining order on her child’s behalf without her being there.” She also went on to describe the emotional fallout she went through both during and after the litigation.
“It’s a penalty for reporting something [the children] said and tried to protect,” she wrote. “I tried to get it to shut down for a year and a half until they refused to go. witnessed. begged. pleaded. sobbed. What would you do? Anything, anything, I bet.

“I’m fucking broken. That shattered me into a thousand pieces. For a long time I could not get out of bed. I thought about what the point of moving on was. I was filled with so much pain and fear for so long,” she added. “No one can keep this state up. Nobody ever should. i let it go I published it. I have found the ladder of light. Get up and fight for your life. For her. Always.”
Josh Homme currently retains custody of their three children. In his statement earlier this year, Homme wrote that he had “refrained from making public statements about his family to the media.”
“Given the continuing untruths, the repeated invasions of children’s privacy and the resulting emotional damage, it is time to speak the truth,” he said in a statement at the time. “We hope this puts an end to the scrutiny and speculation and gives the family the privacy and consideration they deserve.”
It added: “More than a year after the conclusion of their divorce proceedings, Joshua Homme and Brody Dalle have been able to co-parent their three children in a healthy and functional manner. The situation took a grim turn when Dalle broke the 50/50 custody agreement by preventing the children from seeing their father. Despite multiple orders from the Los Angeles Family Court to return the children, and although Dalle was convicted of contempt of court, Dalle continued to violate the custody agreement. The situation was exacerbated by the inappropriate actions of her boyfriend Gunner Foxx.”
Calling for a new restraining order to be issued against Dalle, the statement said: “The recent actions of Brody Dalle and Gunner Foxx have not only caused the children emotional damage but have also placed them in grave danger.”

“In August 2022, Joshua Homme and his two sons were granted a restraining order protecting them from Gunner Foxx and preventing him from having any contact with them for a period of five years. Foxx’s motions for an injunction against Homme were denied by two separate courts.”
The statement continued: “It has been reported that Homme’s daughter has issued a restraining order against him. This was also filed by Gunner Foxx, who took the minor child to court without either of her parents present. Prior to the hearing on this matter, the order was quashed at the child’s request and by his own counsel.”
Homme’s detailed statement concluded by thanking “Los Angeles County Courts, juvenile attorneys, local law enforcement agencies, DCFS and court-ordered observers for their time and continued attention and caring,” adding, “The goal of the Los Angeles family court system and Joshua Homme’s sincere hope is that the resolution of this matter will result in Homme and Dalle being able to peacefully raise their children together.”
