Adam Burrows said he spent so much time in his father’s law office during his childhood that he understood the court before he even went to law school.

“I was behind the scenes with him at the law firm for years,” said Burrows of his father, Dale.

The two now practice together in the family’s office in Highland Village. Burrows took ownership in 2015. Burrows Law Group specializes in family law, estate planning, inheritance, and small business formation. In addition to father and son, the company has two shareholders. Adam Hahn is mainly responsible for estate planning and Daniel Dower is in charge of family law. Burrows’ wife Jennifer works with families and, in addition to running the office, also works as an internal advisor to the firm.

Burrows earned his law degree from the University of North Texas and joined the family business upon graduation. He has been a lawyer for eight years, handling family law cases such as child custody and divorce.

“I love going to court. I love standing in front of judges, ”he said. “And not everyone is suitable for this, but I want to present the cases to people. I want to be part of this argument. “

Burrows said he was passionate about the law, but added that family law can be as emotionally distressing for the attorney as it is for clients.

“I don’t think anyone is 100 percent ready to deal with the emotions of dealing with customers,” he said. “A lot of people who come to me have shattered the very foundation of their marriage. I have to help you understand that this emotional behavior is going to hurt you because if you let the emotions run the show, everything will just cause chaos. ”One thing: be nice.

“At the end of the day, when all the dust settles, what remains is the relationship you created or destroyed,” said Burrows.

The consultation process:

Step 1: The customer books an appointment with the Burrows Law Group.

Step 2: Adam Burrows meets with the customer for questions and answers on specific requirements. Sometimes clients are referred to one of the firm’s other two lawyers. One works in the family law department. The other handles estate planning cases.

Step 3: After the confidential questions and answers between the client and the lawyer, the client decides whether to sign a contract for representation by the law firm.
