A custody dispute was settled between the actor jess williams and his ex-wife Aryn Drake-Lee.

According to People, the formerly married couple have agreed to continue sharing custody of their two children. sadie8 and Maceo6. After appearing in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the judge denied Williams’ request to change his prison schedule to a 2-2-5-5 schedule.

In this arrangement, the children spent two days with one parent, the next two with the other, then five consecutive days with the first parent, and then five days with the second. The request was due to William’s upcoming schedule as he will appear in the Broadway production of Take Me Out, which opens April 4.

“Given [Williams] Profession as an actor, it doesn’t appear that this schedule will necessarily become more predictable going forward,” court documents seen by People.

“It also doesn’t appear to be in the children’s best interests that their time with their father is drastically reduced due to his different schedule to only visit him in predictable time slots. This situation leads to an understandably frustrating experience for both parties.”

The judge also recommended that Williams and Drake-Lee seek joint parental counseling as “both seek a great deal of fine-tuning of their custody and visitation arrangements that a court is not well equipped to handle, for the most part.” The former couple can return to court if counseling doesn’t work.

Earlier this year, as reported by Radar Online, the co-parenting agreement between the two didn’t work out, according to Drake-Lee. She stated in court filings that Williams failed to honor the mutual agreement worked out between the two.

Drake-Lee asked for the joint custody agreement to be amended to give her primary control of the two children. She requested that the court amend the custody agreement to allow Williams visitation on the first and third weekends of each month and on the fifth weekend of five-week months.

The actor filed for divorce in 2017 after being married for five years and together for 13 years. According to TMZ, the former couple settled in 2020. Williams agreed to pay her $50,629 a month in child support until October 2019, after which the amount went down to $40,000 a month.
